[ unless they're now swarming his window. he stares at the window a few moments longer, like he's expecting them to come back the minute he looks away. ]
That's so fucking... [ he shakes his head, curls flying everywhere. ]
Yeah. Probably. We, at the very least, need to clock whatever the fuck just happened in case it's the start of the fucked up shit we're used to.
Good, [he says over his shoulder, and doesn't believe him.
Steve is Steve, as always, but he brings, as promised, asking a million questions a second while Billy non too gently ushers him into Eddie's room with a hand on his back.
he does eye Eddie for a second for signs of panic; some miniscule indicator of distress. there's no more bats, sure, but. ]
[ he looks nervous, but no more than he usually does when faced with mortal peril and Steve Harrington. The room is clean (ish) with the mess stashed in the corner, Eddie leaning himself against the wall and eying the window.
But Steve wull get a quick kiss and an apologetic hug. ]
Billy said there were bats, where did they come from?
[ Wrapping his arms around Eddie, he rubs his back and arms while looking at the window; the broken screen with tiny tears. He turns back to Eddie, reading the nervousness as easily visible as those tattoos. ]
It's okay, I'm here. I'm not gonna let anything near you. Is that where they got in?
Yeah? They probably saw all those kinky photos of his.
[ He gives Hargrove a slanted look that would be derisive if Steve's smile wasn't in his eyes. ]
Spade. [ A spade hisses into his hand (not a bat, you're welcome Billy) and he rubs Eddie's arm. ] Stay with him, I'll be right back. Promise.
[ By the window, Steve edges closer trying to first look around the mesh. Can't see anything there so he peels it back enough to stick his upper body through the window he opens next.
And clangs!! the metal spade on the wall outside. ]
HEEEY, BATS! Any bats out here? I'm Steve Harrington and if you want Munson you'll have to go through me! Can you hear me, you furry little bastards?! [ CLANG!CLANG!! ] Ohh, I bet you don't like that!
[ All that clanging draws the attention from someone a few floors below who shouts up angrily. Steve shakes his spade, arms wide. ]
[ he backs up a few steps, watching the display with a look that's torn between horror, amusement, and hopeless endearment. he glances at billy, back to the boy halfway out the window trying to defend his honor. ]
Y'know... it's really not fair that we both kicked the bucket when that's his battle plan.
[ but no horde of bats come swooping down. or, well, a singular bat swoops. tiny and chittery and annoyed at whatever the hell this display is, but it flaps off into the night. ]
Awh, did you subscribe Harrington? I’m flattered.
[the spade is - something. wildly not the kind of weapon would choose. he does step in from his respectful distance to put himself in front of Eddie, arms folded, hip cocked. ]
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO BACK OFF TOO! Little shit.
[ What the hell is wrong with you?! screams the guy a few floors down. Steve yells back, of course. ]
YOU WANT SOME OF THIS? EAT SHIT!
[ Tossing his hair in a huff as he slides back inside, he locks the window and puts the mesh back into place. He specifies, "Steel, opens with a handle", and the mesh turns into thin but sturdy steel around the window, able to be opened so air can still get in the room; it's very specific and fits perfectly. The ozone-clean scent is sharp around him as Steve steps back to survey his handiwork, palm on a cocked hip and shovel balanced back on a shoulder. ]
Oh yeah, that should work. Still lets in the light too. Nice.
[ Then he stumbles over, dropping the shovel. Dizzy and lightheaded. ]
[probably, yes. he's not a fusser; not a mother hen, not like Eddie, but there's a moment where he frowns, remembers his own nose bleeding, remembers so much -
but it's just a nosebleed. just exertion. he sniffs, moves to shift Eddie's Baby out the way - somewhere far away from the bed, from the seating. he doesn't bother with the amp. ]

[this is good. this seems much better than when he got here. he wets his lips, turns his head to look at Eddie. pauses. ]
You want me to go grab your moron now?

[ he finally spares a glance at the window, doing a doubletake and sitting upright. ]
-- They're gone.

[he's heard less chattering. maybe glanced, saw. ] He should still be here, or some other sentimental shit.

It was normal bats. Just little guys, but... they really wanted in.

Want me to check they're all gone and fix that mesh? I can give it a try.
